The Grand Junction Rockies is an American independent baseball team of the Pioneer League. The team was founded in 1978 in Grand Junction, Colorado. The team is not affiliated with Major League Baseball (MLB), but it is an MLB Partner League. The team plays its home games at Suplizio Field. The Rockies played its home games previously at Alumni Coliseum (1978-1985, 1987-2000), George Tani Field (2001), and Mike Lansing Field (2001-2011). The team also went through name changes a few times due to changes in sponsors. Their former names were Butte Copper Kings (1978-1985, 1987-2000), Casper Rockies (2001-2007), and Casper Ghosts (2008-2011).
The Rockies saw changes in Major League affiliation many times that included Milwaukee Brewers (1979-1981), Kansas City Royals (1982-1983), Seattle Mariners (1984), Texas Rangers (1988-1992), Co-op (1978, 1985, 1987. 1993-1995), Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1996), Anaheim Angels (1997-2000), and Colorado Rockies (2001-2020). The team has won only league titles in 1981 and four division titles in 1981, 1988, 1989, and 2018. Jimmy Johnson is the current Manager of the Rockies, whereas Mick Ritter is the President.
