FC Barcelona Information
Futbol Club Barcelona is a professional football club in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. They play in La Liga, the top level of Spanish football.
Joan Gamper spearheaded a group of Swiss, Catalan, German, and English footballers that established the club in 1899; it has since become a symbol of Catalanism and Catalan culture. Its slogan, "Més que un club" ("More than a club"), reflects this. Barcelona is unique among football clubs because its fans are owners and operators.
After losing in 2010, the team won five titles in 2011 to become champions of Europe again. Some in the sport believe this Barcelona squad, which won fourteen championships in Pep Guardiola's four years as coach, to be the best of all time.
Barcelona became the first European football team to win the continental triple twice in 2015 when they won their fifth Champions League victory under Luis Enrique.
On March 7, 2021, Joan Laporta received 54.28 percent of the vote and was elected president of Barcelona. After a 4-0 final victory over Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona won the 31st Copa del Rey, their lone championship during Ronald Koeman's tenure as manager.
