Eugene Emeralds Information
The Eugene Emeralds, often known as the Ems, are a minor-league baseball club from Eugene, Oregon. They play in the Northwest League and are the San Francisco Giants' high-A affiliate. The Eugene Thunder's home field is PK Park. Bowen Blair, then 11 years old, won a contest in January to be dubbed the Emeralds, and the team was founded 69 years ago in 1955 as a founding member of the Northwest League.
The Eugene City Council approved a $15 million bond proposal on March 13, 2024, and it will be on the ballot for the primary election on May 21, 2024. Although this would help cover some of the estimated $104 million cost of the stadium project, managers from Lane County had suggested starting over with the planning process before moving forward with this one.
The Lane Events Center concept did not recommend the Emeralds' stadium due to its excessive size, which would necessitate the demolition of the highly effective multi-use Indoor Arena. Additionally, the stadium would negatively impact the fairground operations, making it harder to host profitable events and resulting in an estimated yearly loss of $200,000.
