CONCACAF Nations League Information
North American football's regulatory organization, CONCACAF, hosts an annual international football event called the CONCACAF Nations League for senior men's teams. This event is held on dates that are normally reserved for international friendlies, according to the FIFA International Match Calendar.
In November 2017, the tournament was announced. Leagues A, B, and C are structured with three tiers, each consisting of four groups. Teams are promoted and relegated according to their group finishes.
The top two teams from each League A group go to the championship game, while the top two teams from each League B and C advance to the next level. The first tournament started in September 2019, after a one-off qualifying round from September 2018 to March 2019.
For the 2023–24 CONCACAF Nations League season, CONCACAF announced a format change on February 28, 2023. Consequently, beginning with the 2022–23 season, there will be no relegation.
The number of clubs in League A will rise from 12 to 16, and a quarterfinal round will now be included. With the switch to a Swiss-system tournament structure, the 12 clubs with the lowest March 2023 CONCACAF rankings will compete in the group stage.
