The Columbus Crew 2 is a professional soccer team based in Ohio that plays in the third division of American soccer, the MLS Next Pro League. The Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer owns and operates the Columbus Crew reserve squad. Historic Crew Stadium is where the squad plays their home games. The club's membership in MLS Next Pro was announced on December 6, 2021.
The Columbus Crew announced on December 6, 2021, that they will form a reserve team in MLS Next Pro for the 2022 season. The squad would play home games at Columbus, Ohio's Historic Crew Stadium. Simultaneously, the Crew named Corey Wrey, now the club's Assistant General Manager, as its first manager.
There will be 21 clubs in the new league, including The Crew 2. The Crew introduced Laurent Courtois as their first head coach on January 28, 2022. On March 26, 2022, the club debuted at DRV PNK Stadium, losing their debut match to Inter Miami CF II by a score of 0-2. The next week, they beat Chicago Fire FC II by a score of 1-0 for their first victory. On October 8, 2022, Crew 2 defeated St. Louis City SC 2 4-1 to claim the inaugural MLS Next Pro Cup.
