Chicago Sky Information
The Chicago Sky joined the WNBA in 2006 and brought women’s pro basketball to the city for the first time. In the early years, they were still figuring things out, but over time, they built a team that fans could be proud of. They play their home games at Wintrust Arena, and it’s always packed with loud, loyal fans. The Sky plays with heart, speed, and teamwork, and the crowd always gets behind them.
Everything changed in 2021 when the Sky won their first WNBA title. Candace Parker came home to Chicago that season and helped lead the way. She teamed up with Kahleah Copper, who had a breakout year, and together, they gave the city something special. It was a big moment, not just for the team but for the whole city. Since then, the Sky has continued to push forward, even as some of the original stars have moved on.
Now, in 2025, the team is starting fresh with new faces and considerable promise. Angel Reese is one of the big names to watch, bringing energy and toughness in her first season. She was drafted 7th overall in the 2024 draft and Hailey Van Lith joined as the 11th overall from TCU although she had previously played with Reese at LSU.
The team got off to a strong start in May, and fans are already feeling hopeful. Head coach Teresa Weatherspoon is focused on defense, effort, and building chemistry. The Sky may be young this year, but they’re hungry. And with Chicago behind them, they’re ready to fight for every win.
