CF Pachuca Information
Club de Futbol Pachuca plays in Liga MX and is headquartered in the city of Pachuca in the Mexican state of Hidalgo. One of the oldest American football teams, it was founded in 1901 by Cornish miners from Camborne and Redruth and is still active as a member of Mexico's Primera División.
After spending decades in the second tier, Pachuca was promoted to the Primera División in 1998. Since then, it has become one of Mexico's most successful clubs, winning seven Mexican titles, five CONCACAF Champions' Cups, the SuperLiga in 2007, and the Copa Sudamericana in 2009. Pachuca is the only team in the world to have won a club championship in a confederation other than its own. It did so in 2006, becoming the first CONCACAF team to win a CONMEBOL competition.
The "Pachuca Athletic Club" was established in 1901 by British miners who had moved to Mexico to work for the Compaa Real del Monte y Pachuca. In the beginning, playing football was just a casual pastime for those who worked in the mines owned by William Blamey.
