The Bayern Munich Football Club is a professional soccer team headquartered in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. Its professional men's football team competes in Germany's highest division, the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich is the most successful German football team ever, having won 33 German league championships (including 11 straight since 2013), 20 German cup championships, and multiple European crowns.
Eleven footballers, led by Franz John, established FC Bayern Munich in 1900. Bayern Munich won their first national title in 1932, but the club was not invited to join the Bundesliga when it was founded in 1963. Under Franz Beckenbauer's leadership in the mid-1970s, the club enjoyed its greatest success, winning the European Cup three years in a row (1974–1976).
Bayern has won six European Cup/UEFA Champions League titles (a German record), including the 2020 final as part of the Treble, making it only the second European club to do it twice. The Allianz Arena has been Bayern's home field since the 2005–06 season. The squad moved to this stadium after 33 years at the Olympiastadion in Munich.
