The Arizona State Sun Devils, who represent Arizona State University, play Division I college softball. At Tempe, Arizona's Alberta B. Farrington Softball Stadium, the squad competes in Pac-12 Conference softball games. The Arizona State softball team maintains its national prominence.
For the first time during Clint Myers' tenure, the Sun Devils did not go to the Women's College World Series in 2010 despite winning 44 games. They were defeated by the Florida Gators in the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional. The 2011 season was the best for the Sun Devils, as they won the Pac-10 and were seeded first in the NCAA Tournament.
In 2011, the Sun Devils advanced to the Women's College World Series after defeating Texas A&M in the Tempe Super Regional. The Sun Devils won the 2011 NCAA title after sweeping the WCWS and a two-game match against the Florida Gators.
At the time, Arizona State was one of only four softball programs to win multiple NCAA titles alongside Arizona, Texas A&M, and UCLA. The championship also represented the 400th national championship in Pac-10 conference history.
