AEW Revolution Information
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) puts on AEW Revolution, a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event, every year. Starting in 2020, it was held in late February. In 2021, it was shifted to early March. That same year, it became AEW's first pay-per-view to be hosted on a Sunday. Along with AEW's other three major quarterly PPVs "Double or Nothing," "All Out," and "Full Gear" it is regarded as one of the "Big Four" events.
Two of the Revolution PPVs were highly praised by critics. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter named the 2020 event the Best Major Wrestling Show of the year, and the 2021 event broke all records for non-WWE wrestling PPVs since 1999 in terms of revenue.
Since a rescheduled Revolution took place on March 7, 2021, the event was rescheduled for early March. Revolution was initially set for February 27, but AEW rescheduled it for Sunday, March 7, making it AEW's first Sunday PPV. The Canelo Alvarez vs. Avni Yildirim match in Miami Gardens, Florida, aired that night.
In July of 2021, AEW returned to live performances for its fans. Next, on March 6, 2022, the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida, played host to the 2022 Revolution. It was the last day of a three-day event that began on March 4 with a fanfest and continued on March 5 with an episode of Rampage.
At the 2021 Revolution, veteran wrestler Sting made his AEW debut. During the 2024 Revolution, he announced his retirement match on Dynamite's October 18, 2023 edition.
