Yannick Bergeron Information
The journey began in the chemistry classroom at St. Jean Baptiste College. Yannick Bergeron has been in charge of the science academy for over a decade and has taught chemistry to Secondary V students for over 20 years. Young people can participate in various extracurricular activities at the academy, from building jet rockets and searching for scientific treasure to conducting experiments in the academy's various laboratories.
Also, he has organized a science camp where students in the first year of the high school participate in various scientific activities from Friday night through Saturday afternoon. Since it was first established, more than 200 camps have been held. More than 8,000 pupils in the surrounding area were impacted. Yannick began his career as a scientific animator with the Club des Débrouillards, working in various settings, including classrooms, daycares, and recreation centers. In addition to spending his summers working at camps in Montreal, Brôme, and Arunde, he spent a good portion of his boyhood.
Yannick Bergeron has been in charge of the experience column at Les Débrouillards since 1999. He creates a dozen experiments a year, each with an accompanying video capsule on which he offers suggestions for use on the Débrouillards website.
Yannick produced "The Magic of Chemistry" in 2000 to educate his students' parents. Then he did his thing for the assembled students and faculty from several universities. He has performed "Magic in Chemistry" more than 5,000 times worldwide.
