Vanessa Bling, who also performs under the moniker Gaza Slim, is a dancehall singer who achieved massive fame in the early 2010s because of her work with Vybz Kartel. Though she and Vybz Kartel seemed destined for fame, things got tricky when they were both jailed 2011 on murder charges. As a result of her role in the case, Bling spent time in prison while Kartel was given a life sentence, thus putting her career on hold for a while.
Bling's career rose again in 2017 after American hip-hop sensation Cardi B included her 2012 song "Everything Fi Hold Him" in the background of an Instagram video where she flaunted her engagement ring. Bling had been out of the spotlight due to legal issues. Despite the modesty of the gesture, Bling's music was exposed to over ten million of Cardi's followers thanks to the song, many of whom had never heard of her before.
She then used this momentum to release a new EP of six songs in September of 2018 under the title Still Standing. Vanessa Bling, whose real name is Vanessa Saddler, was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica 1991. Shortly after graduating from high school, she began her musical career in 2007, when she contributed background vocals to the song "Only God Knows" by Twin Twins.
