Toh Kay Information
Tomas Kalnoky (December 24, 1980) is an American musician born in Czechoslovakia. Toh Kay is his pseudonym in the professional world. He was born and raised in East Brunswick, New Jersey, and graduated from East Brunswick High School in 1997. Because of The Beatles' influence, he learned to play guitar. His first musical venture was with the punk band Gimp, with whom he issued only one cassette, Smiles for Macavity. Kalnoky wrote "Supernothing" in Gimp, later included on the Catch 22 demo Rules of the Game (EP) and the album Keasbey Nights.
After Kalnoky left Catch 22, three ex-Catch 22 members, Tomas Kalnoky, Josh Ansley, and Jamie Egan, formed Streetlight Manifesto with three ex-One Cool Guy members, Stuart Karmatz, Dan Ross, and Pete Sibilia.
Kalnoky has a wide range of influences, which he blends to produce Streetlight's sound. The Drifters are a favorite band of Kalnoky's. Bad Religion, Nirvana, The Suicide Machines, Squirrel Nut Zippers, and The Dead Milkmen are his musical influences. Jaromir Nohavica, a Czech folk singer, has been acknowledged as one of his musical heroes.
On January 29, 2013, Kalnoky announced that he would join Chuck Ragan, Dave Hause of The Loved Ones, Jenny Owen Youngs, Rocky Votolato, Jenny O., and Tim McIlrath of Rise Against for seven gigs as part of The Revival Tour. Later, he would announce five more dates.
