Irish folk band The High Kings first appeared in 2008 in Dublin. The band consists of Paul O'Brien, Darren Holden, Brian Dunphy, and Finbarr Clancy. As of 2023, the band's discography included five studio albums, four live albums, two live DVDs, and a greatest hits CD. Every album reached the Irish charts, and three of their studio albums peaked at no. Three or higher on Billboard's global music list.
Following the release of their debut album, the new ensemble abandoned their highly rehearsed performing style in favor of a more organic one. Friends for Life, their third studio album, features original compositions and traditional Irish music. Since the group's formation, multiple tours of Europe, the US, and Ireland have occurred.
