Years ago, Melissa Brooks established The Aquadolls to express her frustration. When she was bullied in high school, she found solace in music to express herself creatively. Aspiring at first to be the next Lady Gaga, Brooks eventually settled on making alternative rock music for misfits. Soon after forming the band in her dorm room, Brooks, who also handles much of the songwriting and guitar work, put out the EP "Free" in 2012 and the full-length "Stoked on You" the following year.
In 2018, the band dropped their sophomore album, "The Dream and Deception." The Aquadolls didn't waste any time getting down to business after their current lineup was finalized around the time 'The Dream and Deception' was released. They have shared the stage with Kate Nash, Pennywise, and Jimmy Eat World. They have appeared at festivals as diverse as Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Warped Tour, and twice at Eddie Vedder's Ohana Festival.
Recently, the Los Angeles band has been touring with Incubus and Sublime with Rome. The future holds the promise of even greater developments. Their third album, "Charmed" (after the hit the 90s/00s TV show), is a logical next step for the Aquadolls' discography. Even though the Aquadolls' songs deal with universal themes like love and loss, the band is still very much about having a good time and showing off their sense of humor.
