Surfbort Information
Surfbort is an American punk rock band. Dani Miller, the band's lead singer, was scouting opening acts in 2014 when she came up with the idea for Surfbort. The title of Beyoncé's hit "Drunk in Love" inspired the band's moniker. In 2015, they released their debut single, "Trash," and then in 2016, they released their debut EP of the same name through Slope Records.
When the band needed a new drummer in September 2015, they recruited Sean Powell from Texas. Matt Picola, the band's original guitarist, quit in February 2016, prompting lead singer and bassist Powell to recruit fellow Texan Alex Kilgore to fill in on guitar. There was a Coachella performance in 2017. 2018, Friendship Music was released, their debut album for Cult Records. Gucci's 2019 pre-fall advertising campaign features Surfbort.
The band has toured the US and Canada multiple times and has done two tours of Europe/the UK/Australia. They have shared the stage with and gone on tour with Idles, Interpol, Wolf Alice, Descendents, Amyl and the Sniffers, Black Lips, Tropical Fuckstorm, Iceage, and Starcrawler. After Matt Picola's return in 2020, the group added Nick Arnold on bass. Dani Miller, Sean Powell, Alex Kilgore, Matt Picola, and Nick Arnold make up the current lineup. The band's second studio album, Keep on Truckin', was produced by Linda Perry, who also serves as the group's manager.
