Rise Up Information
The five members of Rise Up are all locals to the San Francisco region or elsewhere in Northern California, yet they came together to form a successful Reggae band called Rise Up. Their sound has been described as "a smokey blend of roots reggae with California attitude for a style that falls closer to Bob Marley than Sublime." To put it another way, they have gained a reputation for their high-energy and Rootsy live shows—Genuine Reggae.
Rise Up was formed initially to fill a slot for a local benefit performance and has since released two studio EPs on Roots Musician Records with renowned producer and musician EN Young (previously of Tribal Seeds). "Rebel Souljahs," which premiered on Lion Roar in 2019, has racked up over 55,000 listens on the popular Reggae YouTube Channel Stereo High Love and has been added to the rotation on Rebelution's personally-selected station, Cali Roots Radio.
The band released The Pursuit in 2021, and it was met with universal acclaim. As a result, Irie Magazine, Top Shelf Music Magazine, Top Rankin' Music Magazine, etc., all ran features on the band. Independently, the band dropped two singles and a Dub Album between 2020 and 2021. Rise Up has performed alongside modern reggae giants like Arise Roots, The Expendables, Josh Heinrichs & Skillinjah, and more, as well as Jamaican reggae legends like The Meditations, Winston Jarrett, Half Pint, The Wailing Souls, etc.
