Phil Keaggy Information
Philip Tyler Keaggy (March 23, 1951) is an American electric and acoustic guitarist and vocalist who has released more than 50 albums during his entire career. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and went to high school, Austintown Fitch High School, graduating in 1970. During the mid-1960s, Keaggy was a member of the band called the Squires. He also co-wrote one of the band’s notable songs, “Batmobile.” The song appeared on the compilation album entitled “Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 9.” Keaggy released his first solo album entitled, What a Day, in 1973 where he performed all the instruments himself.
In 1974, Keaggy released his second studio album entitled “Love Broke Thru.” One of the songs eventually would be considered a classic in Christian Music. Keaggy went on an eighteen-city tour of the western United States during the summer of 1977. He went with “A Band called David” and the 2nd Chapter of Acts. Later on, Keaggy released his first-ever critically acclaimed instrumental album entitled “The Master and the Musician.” The album became the best-selling album of Keaggy’s career thus far.
Keaggy has released around a massive amount of studio albums in his career including Emerging, Ph’lip Side, Town to Town, Play Thru Me, Underground, Getting Closer, Way Back Home, The Wind and the Wheat, Find me In These Fields, Acoustic Sketches, True Believer, Crimson and Blue, and countless others with numerous compilation, live, and tribute albums.
