Allie Hanlon formed the garage rock band Peach Kelli Pop in 2009 in Ottawa, Ontario. Allie Hanlon plays all the instruments and writes all the songs for the band. Instead of a permanent traveling band, Hanlon brings pals to perform with him everywhere he goes. Some have dubbed Peach Kelli Pop's style of music "power pop," while others have drawn comparisons to 1960s girl groups.
Hanlon credits the anime Sailor Moon as an inspiration for her sound, and she performs a cover of the series theme song on her third album, Peach Kelli Pop III, and during live shows. Since the band's inception in 2007, Hanlon has been The White Wires' drummer. In 2009, Hanlon started Peach Kelli Pop as a bedroom project where she wrote music alone. Hanlon's debut as Peach Kelli Pop I was released in 2010 on the Canadian label Going Gaga Records under the artist's given name.
Peach Kelli Pop's second album, Peach Kelli Pop II, was released on Burger Records in 2012. Peach Kelli Pop III, the band's third album, was released in April 2015 through Bachelor and Burger Records. Their fourth studio album, Gentle Leader, was released on Mint Records in May 2018. The name comes from a track from Redd Kross's 1987 album Neurotica.
