Moorea Masa is an American band with "Heart In The Wild: Side A" as the name of one of the band's album. The album chronicles Masa's relationship with her estranged mother, a gay Black woman who battles severe mental illness, in an elegant and heartbreaking journey. This album was created and recorded in 2020 against widespread suffering and turmoil. It captures an unwavering intimacy that makes listening to it seem like spending holy moments with a longtime friend.
Masa gives incredibly moving vocal performances, speaking to her mother in warm, silky tones amidst beautiful harmonies and dreamy textures. These are songs that capture the character traits Masa possesses. "Until Then" is a diary about loving someone regardless of whether they can love you back sincerely. "Lion" demonstrates her fierce commitment and determination to defend women and other marginalized people. This EP serves as the opening track on a forthcoming full-length LP.
