The McDonald’s Gospelfest is known as an annual gospel music festival, fundraiser, and talent competition. It has taken place in Newark, New Jersey, during the spring season since 2008, at the Prudential Center. The closing night ceremony of the festival is hosted, directed, and produced by A. Curtis Farrow. The event is also described as the largest collection of gospel talent that ever assembled. The McDonald’s Gospelfest takes several hours to get recorded and broadcast on WWOR-TV and WABC-TV variously.
The McDonald’s Gospelfest originated under the McDonald’s Corporation as well as McDonald’s Tri-State Owners’ Association in 1983. The event is also considered as one of the major fundraising events which help in supporting educational opportunities for local communities. Also, millions of dollars are awarded for scholarships.
