Lulu Santos (May 4, 1953) is known by his stage name as Luiz Maurício Pragana dos Santos while better known as Lulu. He is a Brazilian singer, multi-instrumentalist, as well as a guitarist. He began playing when he was only 12. He formed a band named Cave Man, which was a Beatles- inspired band. Lulu played for Veludo Elétrica when he was 19.
Lulu began his career at the age of 20, joining “Vímana,” a progressive band that he later left and started as a solo artist. His music productions are mostly themed in MPB, rock, funk, electronica, reggae, and soul genres. He also worked as a freelance musician before starting his very own solo career.
Some of the popular hits by Lulu as a solo artist include "Tesouros da Juventude," which was written with Nelson Motta, a tribute to John Lennon. Some other singles are "De Repente Califórnia," "Adivinha o quê," "De Repente Califórnia," "Como Uma Onda (Zen-surfismo)," and "Um Certo alguém." His 1984 album, titled às Tudo Azul, also brought some further hits like "O último romântico" and Certas Coisas."
Another album named “Lulu” in 1986 sold 250,000 copies. "A Cura" from the album Toda Forma de Amor by Lulu was one of the most played songs of the year on FM radio. His first DVD, Acoustic MTV, was released in 2000. Lulu also performed the Big Brother Brasil 13 program’s closing show on March 26, 2013. He was also sighted in cinema productions, including The Spoken Cinema and A Summer Show.
