Kurt Bestor Information
Kurt Bestor (1958) is an American composer and keyboardist specializing in jazz, new-age, and film scores. He was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and learned piano from his mother when he was a child. He had a strong family background in terms of music, where his grandpa used to play the trumpet, and his uncle played with the trumpet in the band of Jack Benny. He attended Orem High School in Orem, Utah, after his family moved there in 1966.
Bestor completed his early education and attended Brigham Young University. During his graduation, he wrote songs for student projects and composed music for the composer lab of Sundance Institute. However, Bestor dropped out of the University after deciding to pursue a full-time musical career.
Kurt Bestor began working as a trumpet player and arranger in his early 20s and played at the Osmond TV Studios in Orem, Utah. He has also performed for several television shows, specials, and the early productions of the “Children’s Miracle Network Telethon.” For his collaboration with Sam Cardon on the original music for ABC’s coverage in the 1988 Winter Olympics, Bestor was awarded an Emmy. Bestor is also well known for his instrumental Christmas arrangements.
Bestor has released several notable studio albums throughout his career. Some of his Christmas albums are Comes a Christmas Morning (2016), A Kurt Bestor Christmas – By Request (2002), One Silent Night (1999), Christmas (1995), An Airus Christmas volume 2 (1991), and An Airus Christmas volume 1 (1988).
