Julian Marley Information
Julian Ricardo Marley (June 4, 1975) is a British-Jamaican reggae humanitarian, producer, songwriter, and musician. Marley grew up in both England and Jamaica. He learned to play the keyboard, drums, bass, and guitar at a young age.
In 1996, Marley released his first solo album, Lion in the Morning, and went on a world tour. In 1997, he and his brother Damian Marley went on tour with the Lollapalooza festival. In 2003, he published his second album, A Time and Place. Marley and the Uprising band were invited to represent Jamaica and perform in the Beijing Olympics by the Jamaican government in 2008. Awake (released in 2009), his third album, was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Reggae Album category.
Marley contributed to a wide spectrum of musical aspects on Lauryn Hill's award-winning album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill's award-winning album. On Tuff Gong Records in Jamaica, they recorded the album, with Marley playing guitar on a few of the tracks. Marley returned to the studio in 1999 with his brothers Damian and Stephen to begin producing Chant Down Babylon. This platinum-selling remix album included diverse rock and hip-hop musicians covering Bob Marley and The Wailers tunes.
In 2011, he took part in the Mawazine festival in Rabat, Morocco. He gave a reggae concert in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in January 2013. He played in the Fêtes de Genève in Geneva, Switzerland, in August 2013.
