Jethro Tull Information
Jethro Tull is a British rock band. The current lineup consists of Ian Anderson, David Goodier, John O'Hara, Scott Hammond, and Joe Parrish. After releasing their debut album, This Was, in 1968, the band had some success on the London club circuit. Stand Up, the band's second album was released in 1969 after a lineup change in which Martin Barre replaced original guitarist Mick Abrahams. The band's first breakthrough came after the release of Stand Up, which topped the UK album charts and was followed by frequent tours of the UK and the US.
Derek Shulman of the band Gentle Giant ranks Jethro Tull among the all-time greats of progressive rock. After touring with them in 1972, he spoke highly of them professionally and personally. Nick Cave is such a huge fan of Jethro Tull that he even named one of his sons after the band. He had his band, Grinderman, play "Locomotive Breath" during soundchecks. In 2008, during the MOJO Awards, at Cave's request, Ian Anderson gave him the prize for Album of the Year.
Jethro Tull's signing with Inside Out Music for the 2022 release of The Zealot Gene was revealed on July 13. The band announced the completion of recording their 23rd studio album on November 17, 2022; the album was scheduled for release in the spring of 2023. The album's title, RökFlöte, was announced in January 2023, and its release date was set for April 21 of that year.
