Jess Jocoy is an American singer and songwriter from Lake, WA. Currently, she is residing in Nashville, TN, and attended Belmont University, where she minored in Music Business. At a young age, she was well-aware that songwriting would not make her fast money, so Jocoy equipped herself with practical knowledge of the music industry. She completely understood that she would have ups and downs. In 2013, her father was diagnosed with lung cancer, and he passed away. At the same time, Jocoy was finishing up her AA degree in Liberal Arts at Pierce Community College.
With her father's passing, it is said that Jocoy found a new heart amidst the sadness, and having tasted real life helped prevent her music from dying. New Heart/Old Soul was the debut EP by Jocoy.
Jess Jocoy's music is defined as Americana and Alt-Country. She shared her influences to be Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, The Civil Wars, Patty Griffin, Ryan Adams, and a few more. She is defined as a young creator with a knack for storytelling that is far beyond her years.
Growing up, Jocoy always had this feeling in her heart that her home and her heart were in Tennessee. With such feelings, she claims that she needed nothing more than to keep the traditions of Nashville alive, and Jocoy does this flawlessly. She hones in on traditional instrumentation, and her vision is durable enough for not being at all anti-electric. A revivalist idealism spurs her passion.
