Hololive Production is a virtual YouTuber agency owned by Cover Corporation, a Japanese technology and entertainment corporation. It is a multi-channel network that plans concerts, produces music, sells merchandise, and manages licensing. First introduced in December 2017, Cover used the moniker "Hololive" for both its 3D stream distribution software and its female VTuber agency.
Under the new "Hololive Production" umbrella, Hololive joined with Cover's male-oriented Holostars agency and INoNaKa record label in December 2019. On November 15, 2023, Cover announced its community works policy update, allowing fanworks to be monetized on video-sharing platforms like YouTube. Additionally, they unveiled their publishing company for fangames called "Holo Indie" and presented a new set of rules tailored to fan games.
Cover announced the formation of Cover U.S., a subsidiary situated in California, on March 12, 2024. This move is to enable regional event planning and sales. The subsidiary is expected to be up and running by the middle of 2024. Hololive sponsored its first theme night at Major League Baseball, a Los Angeles Dodgers game on July 5, 2024, with special items and Gawr Gura.
