Chester Gregory (December 10, 1978) is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. Chester Gregory was born in Gary, Indiana. Gregory was motivated to become an artist after growing up in the same town as Michael Jackson. After years of performing in talent shows and workshops for young performers, Gregory auditioned for the Emerson School for Visual and Performing Arts. His first two efforts were unsuccessful, but he had been admitted on his third attempt by the time he entered high school. His education continued at Columbia College Chicago, majoring in Musical Theatre.
Gregory's television and film credits include roles in Harry Lennix's Revival!, Ish, The Testing Camera, and Todrick Hall's American Dreams and Films. He's also featured on Comedy Central's The Daily Show, ABC's The View, and David Tutera's CELEBrations with Kym Whitley.
Gregory, who goes by the moniker CH?SS, has spent most of his career in the studio. He has collaborated with music icons such as Artie Butler, Henry Krieger, Marc Shaiman, and Phil Collins on various recordings. Chance The Rapper, Cory Henry, The Pocket Queen, 9th Wonder, 88-Keys, MaliMusic, Dot Da Genius, Keyon Harrold, and Ledisi are his collaborators.
In 2003, Dr. Gregory performed for Michael Jackson, the famed "King of Pop," who gave him a standing ovation. Gregory debuted on Broadway as Seaweed in the Tony Award-winning musical Hairspray the next week.
