Hank McCamish Pavilion is an indoor arena located in Atlanta, Georgia. The venue is situated on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology. It is nicknamed The Thrillerdome and was originally named Alexander Memorial Coliseum. The arena was officially inaugurated on November 30, 1956, and closed on March 6, 2011 (renovations). The venue re-opened on November 9, 2012. The total construction cost of the original project was $1.6 million. Aeck Associates of Atlanta did the architecture of the building. It has a total seating capacity of 8,600. McCamish Pavilion is under the ownership of Georgia Tech, and the same facility operates it. The arena serves as the home field to the Yellow Jackets women's basketball team and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men's basketball team.
McCamish Pavilion was the past host (from 1968 to 1972 and again from 1997 to 1999) of the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The facility was also used by Tech's women's volleyball team occasionally, primarily for NCAA tournament games. Some of the other major events hosted by the arena include the Olympic boxing tournament 1996, the Georgia High School Association men's and women's state tournament games, the 2008 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament, and Spring 2017 commencement ceremonies by Georgia State University.
McCamish Pavilion also served as the venue for the swearing-in of Brian Kemp, Georgia's 83rd Governor, on January 14, 2019.
