Minglewood Hall is a contemporary concert venue located in Midtown, Memphis. It occupies a historic building and is best known for hosting a variety of events. The Hall’s schedule usually focuses on indie, rock, blues, and soul singers and bands. Minglewood Hall was named after a classic blues song by Noah Lewis entitled “Minglewood Blues,” first recorded in Memphis in 1928. The building where the Hall is currently housed was previously a bread factory. It has also been used as the Memphis Designers’ Showcase and church. The building even served as a music store from 1999 to 2008.
Minglewood hosts mainly music concerts. In the past, the venue hosted many boxing matches and other entertainment events. Many well-known performers have appeared at the Hall, such as blues legend Buddy Guy, Deftones, Gary Clark, Jr., and Elvis Costello. The Hall has a standing capacity of 1,600, the auditorium seating capacity is 1,000, and the table seating capacity is 650. The Hall is known for featuring a state-of-the-art sound system, a food bar, and LED lighting.
According to readers of The Memphis Flyer, Minglewood Hall was voted the number one spot to witness music in Memphis. The venue features many other facilities than the main Hall, such as 1884 Lounge, which hosts the best local and regional music in an intimate setting. It includes a radio station, practice rooms for musicians, a tattoo parlor, and a dance studio.
