Estadio Hiram Bithorn or Hiram Bithorn Stadium is a baseball park located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The stadium was built in 1962 and opened for the public in 1963 with a construction cost of 4.3M. The venue is operated under the ownership of the Municipality of San Juan, with a seating capacity of 18,264 for baseball. Orval E. Sifontes Fontan AIA designs the architecture of the building. Estadio Hiram Bithorn serves as home to Cangrejeros de Santurce (LBPRC). Some of the former tenants are Senadores de San Juan (LBPRC), Atléticos de San Juan (PRSL), and Academia Quintana (PRSL).
Estadio Hiram Bithorn was given the current name in honor of Hiram Bithorn, the first Puerto Rican to play in the major leagues. The stadium replaced Estadio Sixto Escobar and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. The first outdoor National Basketball Association game in the Estadio Hiram Bithorn was between the Phoenix Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks. The game was played on September 24, 1972. The stadium also served as host to Major League Baseball's Opening Day Game in 2001.
Estadio Hiram Bithorn hosted part of the first two rounds of the 2006 World Baseball Classic. Pool C was played at the stadium, which included Cuba, Panama, Puerto Rico, and the Netherlands. Some of the other notable events hosted by the stadium are the 2013 World Baseball Classic and 71 professional boxing programs.
