Kitchener Rangers at Windsor Spitfires
The WFCU Centre, abbreviated as Windsor Family Credit Union, is an arena and entertainment center located at 8787 McHugh Street, Windsor, Ontario. Its ground was shattered on January 22, 2007, and was built through the years 2007-2008. The center opened for the general public on December 11, 2008. The venue has a seating capacity of around 6,450 for Ice hockey, 6,500 for the end-stage concert, 4,500 for the hybrid concert, 3,000 for theatre concert along with having 670 premium club seats, 31 luxury private suites, and 2 parties/group suites. It is owned by the City of Windsor and operated by Comcast Spectacor. The architecture of WFCU Centre was designed by BBB Architects, Ltd, with a construction cost of $71 million.
Some of the main tenants of the center are Windsor Spitfires (2008-present) and Windsor Express (2012-present). Numerous hockey events were hosted by the venue, such as the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in 2012, the OHL All-Star Game, and the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. It also hosted skate events, including Canada Synchronized Skating Championships and 2012 Skate Canada International show, along with other sporting events.
