Martin Stadium is an outdoor athletic stadium located in Pullman, Washington. The stadium is situated in the Pacific Northwest of the US, on the campus of Washington State University. The venue broke ground on January 1, 1972, and officially opened for the public on September 30, 1972. The total construction cost of the project was $1 million. The stadium is under the ownership of Washington State University, and it is operated by the same. The present seating capacity of the stadium is 32,952, which was 22,600 originally. Martin Stadium serves as the home field to the Washington State Cougars of the Pac-12 Conference.
Gesa Field at Martin Stadium is the full name given to Martin Stadium. The venue has featured artificial turf since its inception in 1972, which is now FieldTurf since 2000. The stadium underwent some major renovations in 1975, 1979, 1999, 2006, and 2012. It is named after the governor of Washington (1933–41), a graduate of the University, and former mayor of Cheney, Clarence D. Martin (1886–1955). Dan was his son, who made a $250,000 donation to the project.
