Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is an open-air stadium that is located in Annapolis, Maryland. The stadium is situated on the campus of the United States Naval Academy. The venue broke ground in 1958, and it officially opened for the local public on September 26, 1959. The stadium is under the Naval Academy Athletic Association (Private Enterprise), and the U.S. Naval Academy operates it. It has a seating capacity of 34,000. The total construction cost of the project was $3.1 million. The architecture of the building was designed by 360 Architecture (formerly CDFM2). Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium serves as the home stadium of the professional Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse and the Navy Midshipmen college football and lacrosse teams.
Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium also hosts the Military Bowl. The stadium's opening game was a 29–2 win over William & Mary that took place on September 26, 1959. The stadium also hosted soccer games that were part of the 1984 Summer Olympics. The venue serves as a memorial to the Navy and Marine Corps. The stadium underwent a partial renovation in 2004. The west side press box was expanded. The renovations and expansions continued through 2005. The field at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is given the name "Jack Stephens Field." The name was given to honor Jackson T. Stephens (Class of 1947). He gave aid for the stadium's renovation, Class of 1947 Legacy project, and Academy projects.
