The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre is an American Broadway theatre located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It was formerly known as John Golden Theatre and Royale Theatre. The architecture of the venue was designed by Herbert J. Krapp and built by the Chanin Construction Company. On January 11, 1927, the theatre opened as the Royale Theatre and presented a musical entitled “Piggy,” produced by William B. Friedlander. The popular comedian, Sam Bernard, took the responsibility of starring and carried the show for almost 79 performances.
The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre has a seating capacity of 1,101. The venue was built as part of a three theater complex. The theatre has also achieved a record for the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, grossing around $1,447,598 over nine performances. It was for the week ending December 30, 2012. The theatre was renamed to honor the longtime Shubert Organization president, Bernard B. Jacobs, on May 9, 2005.
