Southern Illinois Salukis at Northern Iowa Panthers Football UNI Dome Cedar Falls

UNI Dome is a multi-purpose stadium situated on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The arena opened to the general public on July 26, 1976, with a construction cost o f$7.5 million. Most of the money used for construction came from student fees and private donations from alumni and community members. It has a seating capacity of 16,324 for Football and 5,000-22,000 for concerts. The UNI Dome plays host to a variety of concerts, trade shows, conventions, football bowl games, softball, graduation ceremonies, and other family entertainment each year. For sports, it has a Monodturf football surface, a removable basketball court; and an all-purpose floor marked as a running track. It serves as the home to the UNI Panthers basketball and football teams. Thorson-Brom-Broshar-Snyder Architects of Waterloo designed this multi-purpose coliseum. The venue got renovated in 2010 with a renovation cost of around $4 million. UNI Dome features include Television/ radio broadcasting capabilities, Four dressing rooms, Four entrances (NE, SE, SW, NW).

The Dome has hosted professional wrestling events as well as concerts by famous bands such as Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift, Nelly, Mötley Crüe, REO Speedwagon, Pink Floyd, 3 Doors Down, Fuel, The Police and UB40 in 1983, Fleetwood Mac, Oleander, The Who, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean (2015), Rolling Stones, Florida Georgia Line, and the Grateful Dead. The most notable ceremony was held in the spring of 2011 when first lady Michelle Obama delivered the headlining address.
