Majestic Theatre - Madison - Madison WI
Skizzy Mars (Rescheduled from 10/12/2025)
The Majestic Theatre is a live music venue located in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. The theatre was first opened for the public on December 15, 1906. The architecture of the building was done by Claude & Starck. The Majestic Theatre has a seating capacity of 600 and is the oldest theater in Madison, and has changed ownership several times. The venue started as a vaudeville theater, and in 1912, it became a movie house that hosted occasional live acts. By 1930, the venue was changed into a talking motion pictures venue. Currently, it is owned and operated by Matt Gerding and Scott Leslie, who bought the theatre in 2007. They are the owners who converted the venue into a successful music club hosting DJs and live shows every night.
The Majestic Theatre was originally founded by Edward F. Biederstaedt (1865–1912) and his brother. Some of the former owners of the theatre are Jay Sherwood and F. J. McWilliams (1912–1916), Frank W. Fischer (1916–the 1920s), Arthur P. Desormeaux (1930–1943), RKO-Stanley Warner Theaters of New York (1943–1976), Dan Nevasier (1976–1992), and a few more. The theatre changed its name several times along with the ownership such as 20th Century Theater (1992–1999), Doane's Majestic (2000–2002), Club Majestic (2003–2007), Gerding and Leslie's Majestic (2007–present), Landmark Theater (1976–1992), and Warner Theater (1943–1976).
The Majestic Theatre has featured artists of every musical genre, stand-up comedians, and local and international DJs. The venue served as host to many political rallies, "Brew & View" film nights, vaudeville and burlesque shows, and live concerts on King Street.
