The Veterans Memorial Stadium has a seating capacity of around 30,402 people. It serves as the home to Troy University Trojans. The Veterans Memorial Stadium is owned and operated by Troy University. The stadium was first opened to the general public on September 16, 1950, at a construction cost of $65,000. The building was designed by HOK Sports, Mills, and Cawood and Goodwyn. The stadium has gone through some majestic expansions in the years 1998, 2003, and 2017. The Veterans Memorial Stadium was primarily used for American Football. It is dedicated to the memory and honor of students and residents who lost their lives in World War II. The stadium was named after the retired head coach “Larry Blakeney” in 2011. The venue has gone through tremendous growth and changes during its 68 years of existence.
