Sabaton
The Edmonton Convention Centre ECC is an entertainment, meeting, and convention venue in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The center was formerly known as the Shaw Conference Centre, opening for the public in 1983, and underwent an expansion in 2006. The venue is under the City of Edmonton's ownership, and it is managed by the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation (EEDC). It is a not-for-profit enterprise and located on Jasper Avenue. According to an EEDC report, the Edmonton Convention Centre boosts Edmonton's economy by an estimated $44 million annually.
The Edmonton Convention Centre was given its current name in 2019 following the expiration of Shaw's naming rights. Edmonton's city council approved a plan for the EEDC on August 29, 2017, to take ownership of the Edmonton Expo Centre from Northlands. Since then, the facility has been used for corporate functions, conventions, banquets, and entertainment events such as concerts. In 2018, Edmonton's anime convention Animethon moved to the Edmonton Convention Centre and replaced the MacEwan University City Centre Campus.
