The Magic Stick is part of The Majestic Theatre located in Detroit, MI. The Majestic Theatre is an independent concert house that opened for the public on April 1, 1915. It is one of the world’s largest movie theaters. The Magic Stick was inaugurated in the early ’90s when the Majestic’s owners decided to remove eight bowling lanes in the second-floor alley. It was replaced by ten pool tables and a stunning dance floor.

The concept of Magic Stick was a quick one to catch on as the basement motif. It offered an ideal backdrop for the burgeoning garage, electronic, and alt-rock scenes in the town. Later on, the dance floor was further expanded by removing the four upstairs lanes. The completed construction turned out to be one of the city’s legendary rock rooms. The Magic Stick underwent major renovations in 2015 with an addition of LED light features, enhanced sound, an extended stage, an additional bar, and a revamped dance floor, along with a VIP area. There is a standing capacity of 700.

Some of the notable shows that have taken place at the Magic Stick include CHICANO BATMAN with Le Butcherettes, Joywave with The Possession Tour, Between The Buried And Me, Luttrell, and Lost Dog Street Band.
