North Dakota State Bison at Oregon State Beavers Wrestling Gill Coliseum Corvallis

Gill Coliseum is a multi-purpose arena that is located in Corvallis, Oregon. The arena is situated on the Oregon State University campus and is owned and operated by Oregon State University. The venue has a seating capacity of 9,604 after construction broke ground on June 5, 1974, and opened for the local public on December 16, 1949. Jones and Marsh did the building’s architecture, whereas J. C. Watts Construction Company was the general contractor. Gill Coliseum serves as a home field to the Oregon State Beavers’ wrestling, volleyball, basketball, and gymnastics teams.

Gill Coliseum was named after basketball coach Amory T. “Slats” Gill. He successfully compiled a 599–392 (.604) record in 36 seasons (1928 to 1964). A mural of former players such as Brent Barry, AC Green, Lester Conner, Gary Payton, and Steve Johnson can be seen on the arena’s south wall.

Gill Coliseum also housed the Horner Museum in the basement until it was closed in 1995. The NCAA Tournament has been hosted by the arena 11 times (1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1960, 1962, 1964, 1967, 1983). The facility also has a sports medicine center, which was part of the $7 million renovation of the arena that took place in 2009. The Sports Performance Center (SPC) is also located between Gill Coliseum and the Tommy Prothro Football Complex.
