NHRA Gatornationals
Gainesville Raceway is a quarter-mile dragstrip located just outside Gainesville, Florida. The raceway opened for the public in 1969 and is one of the most famous raceways playing host to the NHRA's prestigious Gatornationals event since 1970. Gainesville Raceway has a seating capacity of 30,000 and a concrete surface. The first Gatornationals event was held at the site in 1970.
Gainesville Raceway owns a separate road course built for vehicle testing and driving schools. The raceway underwent some significant renovations in the 2003 season. There is also The Pavilion, which is part of Gainesville Raceway, completed in 2006. It is used during the AMALIE Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, the main hospitality area for the Top Eliminator Club. The Pavilion also hosted the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Gala Dinner, many car shows, and Gainesville Raceway's Annual Racer Banquet.
Gainesville Raceway serves as host to various other special events on an annual basis, such as an NHRDA event, Import Face-Off and Grassroots Challenges, and a Lucas Oil Division 2 Race. Some of the famous Gatornationals Winners are Richie Crampton, Richie Crampton, and Brittany Force (Top Fuel 2019).
