The Crouse-Hinds Theatre John H. Mulroy Civic Centre is the largest space in the Oncenter. It is part of the Oncenter, which is a three-building convention and entertainment complex. The venue is located at 421 Montgomery Street, Syracuse, New York City. The Crouse-Hinds opened to the general public in the fall of the year 1975. The venue has a seating capacity of 2,117 approximately. The center consists of a concert hall, a community room, and a studio theater. The Crouse-Hinds Theatre serves as the home to the Syracuse Opera Company, Famous Artists Series, and the Rosamond Gifford Lecture Series. The architecture of the Mulroy Civic Centre was designed by Melo, McAfee, Aebersold, Affleck, and Nichols. The Onondaga County Legislature, in 1989, named the Civic Centre in honor of John H. Mulroy, who has served as Onondaga County’s first County Executive from 1962 to 1987.
