Spring Training - Boston Red Sox at Minnesota Twins
Lee Health Sports Complex is a baseball stadium in South Fort Myers, Florida, in CenturyLink Sports. It was built in 1991 and went through major renovations in 2014 and 2015. There is a waterfall fountain installed near the entrance of Lee Health Sports Complex. The stadium architect was designed by Lescher & Mahoney Ellerbe Becket, whereas Populous did the renovation designing. The seating capacity of the stadium is 9,300. It is owned by the City of Fort Myers and operated by Lee County. The Florida State League All-Star Game was held at the Lee Health Sports Complex by the Florida State League in June 2009.
JetBlue Park and Lee Health Sports Complex are two of four spring training facilities available in Fort Myers. The venue is also home to the Minnesota Twins. Other tenants who use Lee Health Sports Complex as their home venue include Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (since 1992) and GCL Twins (since 1991).
The stadium's name was in honor of retired Lee County Deputy Administrator William H. Hammond Jr. He played a significant role in getting the Lee County Sports Complex built to draw the Twins from their previous Spring Home, Orlando. The outer facade of Lee Health Sports Complex was designed while keeping Churchill Downs in mind. The stadium's parking rows feature street signs named to honor former Twins greats, including Kent Hrbek, Kirby Puckett, and Bert Blyleven.
