Mark Light Field, commonly known as Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field, is a Coral Gables, Florida baseball stadium. The venue is situated on the University of Miami campus. The stadium is under the ownership of the University of Miami and operated by the same. It has a seating capacity of 5,000. The venue officially opened for the public on February 16, 1973. The architecture of the building is designed by the famous Populous. Mark Light Field serves as a home field to the University of Miami Hurricanes baseball team since 1973.
A Miami fan, George Light, donated money for the construction of the Mark Light Field. The baseball stadium is named to honor George Light's son, Mark Light, who passed away of muscular dystrophy. The donation was followed by a $3.9 million contribution offered by New York Yankees All-Star Alex Rodriguez, hence Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. The stadium underwent a major renovation in 2007 that continued till 2009. It included new stadium lighting, a new concession area, new dugouts, and new restrooms. Currently, the field has a natural grass surface with an Electronic scoreboard.
Mark Light Field again underwent a major renovation in 2019 announced by the UM Athletics worth $7 million. This renovation resulted in the construction of a state-of-the-art indoor hitting facility. The Hurricanes ranked 26th among Division I baseball programs in attendance at Mark Light Field in 2013. They averaged about 2,635 per home game.
