Matt Mathews
Margaritaville Resort Casino is a casino hotel located in Bossier City, Louisiana. The first master plan for the casino came out in June 2011. The voters approved it in Bossier Parish in a November 2011 election. The venue's construction began in 2015, and the casino was built as a barge floating in a pool. The water was pumped into the pool from the Red River. The total construction cost of the project was $205 million. A one-day preview casino opening event took place, and two days later, the venue was officially opened to the public.
Margaritaville Resort Casino is under the ownership of Vici Properties, while the operating license holder is the Penn National Gaming. The total gaming space at the casino is 26,500 square feet. The venue uses its name under license from the notable firm named Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. The casino features 1,200 slot machines and 50 table games. The hotel at the site comprises 395 rooms distributed in an 18-story tower, bought by its current owner for $261 million. Penn National Gaming bought the property's operating business for $115 million. A leasing deal was made from Vici for $23 million on an annual basis.
Margaritaville Resort Casino has been voted as the luckiest casino in Louisiana. Some table games at the casino are blackjack, craps, roulette, three-card poker, Cajun Stud, Hard Card Flush, and baccarat.
