Parx Casino and Racing is a Thoroughbred horse racing venue and one of the largest casino gaming complexes located in Pennsylvania. The venue was formerly known as Philadelphia Park Racetrack and Casino. The Racetrack was officially inaugurated on November 4, 1974, and the Casino opened on December 18, 2009. The complex is owned and operated by Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, Inc. Parx features 3200 slot machines with a 24-hour gaming facility. It also features a poker room with 48 poker tables, 188 live table games, live racing and simulcast action, several dining options and bars, sports betting, and the Xcite Center.
Parx Casino and Racing is well-known for offering online gambling as well as online sports betting. The complex provides two locations for off-track betting. Some of the notable restaurants located within Parx include Beer Garden, Bambu Noodle House, Liberty Bell Gastropub, Chickie's & Pete's, Oliveto, Parxgrill, and Xlounge. The complex opened as a replacement for the Liberty Bell Park Racetrack. The Parx was given its current name in 1984 when ITB purchased the venue. Some of the notable horses that found their way to the winner's circle at Parx Racing and Casino include Spectacular Bid, Summer Squall, Shuvee, My Juliet, Revidere, and Broad Brush. The track earned further fame being the original home of 2004 Preakness Stakes and Kentucky Derby champion Smarty Jones.
Some of the notable events hosted by Parx Casino and Racing include the fourth annual Jockeys and Jeans fundraiser in 2017.
