Richard Rodgers Theatre is a Broadway theatre located at 226 West 46th Street, New York City. It has a seating capacity of around 1,319. Richard Rodgers Theatre first opened to the general public in 1925. The theatre was sold to different authorities after the original owner, Irwin Chanin, sold it to Shuberts. Currently, the Nederlander Organization owns and operates the venue. Irwin Chanin designed the architecture of the Richard Rodger Theatre. Major renovations were done to the venue in the year 2006.
The theatre has housed around eleven Tony Award-winning plays and musicals, which are more than any other theatre on Broadway. Richard Rodgers Theatre is the first of its kind to feature Chanin's "democratic" seating plan. The theatre hosts several hit musicals and Broadway.
