Western Carolina Catamounts at Georgia Bulldogs Baseball
Foley Field is a baseball stadium located in Athens, Georgia. The stadium is owned and operated by the University of Georgia, with a seating capacity of 2,760 and a natural grass surface. The stadium originally opened in 1966 with a construction cost of $3.5 million, and after renovation, it re-opened in 1990. Foley Field serves as the home field of the University of Georgia Bulldogs college baseball team. The field also hosted the 1987 Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament, which Mississippi State won.
Recently, Foley Field hosted four NCAA regional tournaments (2001, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2018), where the Bulldogs advanced to the College World Series in all four years. In 2001, Super Regionals were hosted by the stadium featuring Florida State University, and in 2006 against the University of South Carolina. Again in 2008, the stadium hosted Super Regionals with North Carolina State University as the guest. All three of these games were won by Georgia, two games to one.
In recent years, many attendance records have been set in the field. This includes both Super Regionals hosted by the venue. The highest record attendance so far is 4,461 made during the regular season, as 3rd-ranked Georgia defeated Mississippi State 4–0 on March 21, 2009.
