Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located at East Capitol Street SE in Washington, D.C. The venue is owned by the District of Columbia and operated by Events Dc. It was inaugurated on October 1, 1961, with a construction cost of $24 million. The stadium can hold up to 45,596 patrons in its seating capacity. The architecture of the venue was designed by George Leighton Dahl, Architects & Engineering, Inc. It served as home to many of the football and basketball teams until they found their permanent home field. D.C United were the ones who used the stadium as a home field for the longest period compared to all other teams from 1996 to 2017.
The Washington Senators claimed victory in their first baseball game played at the stadium against the Detroit Tigers on April 9, 1962. Further on, the stadium hosted its first All-star game on July 10, 1962, in which National League won a 3-1 score. As the venue was home to two professionals, two colleges, and a bowl game of football teams, it hosted many of the football matches, including The Washington Redskins vs. The New York Giants on November 27, 1966, The Redskins vs. the New Orleans Saints on December 14, 1969, and The Washington Federals of the United States Football League against Chicago Blitz on March 6, 1983. RFK Stadium held HBCU games as well including, Timmie Football Classic – Grambling vs. Morgan State, National Capital Football Classic – Delaware State vs. Jackson State, and Capitol Classic – Tennessee State vs. North Carolina-Central.
Tickets for the events to be held at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium are available at the Box Office, or you can avail them online on TicketsOnSale.com at a reasonable price.
